All-New Maruti Swift Launched: Priced 25K More Than Older Model


The much-awaited Maruti Suzuki Swift is finally here. The next-generation Maruti Swift has been officially launched in India today. The price for the all-new Swift starts at Rs 6.49 lakh and goes up to Rs 9.64 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom). This is actually Rs 25,000 more expensive than the older generation model. When compared to the outgoing version, Maruti has made a lot of improvements in terms of features and design. Swift has been on sale in the Indian market since 2005 and has been an extremely popular car among buyers. The newly launched version is expected to be no different.

The Maruti Swift is sold in LXi, VXi, VXi(O), ZXi, ZXi+ and ZXI+ Dual-tone variants. The price for the LXi variant is Rs 6.49 lakh, ex-showroom and this is the only variant which is not available with an AMT gearbox. All other variants above LXi are offered with a manual and AMT gearbox option. The top-end ZXi+ Dual Tone variant is priced at Rs 9.64 lakh, ex-showroom.

The iconic design of the Swift was inspired by the popular Suzuki Hayabusa superbike. The design of the new Swift is no different. It is actually an evolution from the previous generation model and comes with sleeker-looking headlamps with projector lights, boomerang LED DRLs, and halogen turn indicators. The shoulder line on the new Swift wraps around the car, giving it a distinct look.

Coming to the side profile, the design of the car reminds us of the outgoing model. We see the dual-tone machine-cut alloy wheels and repositioned rear door handles here. At the rear, the Swift gets clear lens tail lamps with C-shaped LED elements in it.

Coming to the interior, the car offers a welcoming updated cabin. The wraparound character line can be seen in the cabin too. The center console is driver-centric which makes it easier to control while driving. The layered design of the dahbaord will remind you of other Maruti cars like Baleno and Fronx.

We see the 9-inch touchscreen infotainment with connected car features from Maruti Suzuki. The car also offers automatic climate control, a wireless phone charger pad, type C USB ports that support fast charging.

The car also offers rear AC vents, a twin-pod instrument cluster with a color MID in the center. The cabin looks extremely spacious and comes with fabric seats, a multi-function steering wheel with a flat bottom. Maruti Suzuki has updated the suspension setup on the new Swift. It also gets 6 airbags and 3-point seat belts for all passengers as standard features.

Maruti Suzuki Swift is now powered by a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 82 PS and 112 Nm of peak torque. This engine is offered with a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox. The official fuel efficiency figures have also been announced. The manual version of Swift has an ARAI certified economy of 24.8 kmpl and the AMT version gets 25.75 kmpl.

The Swift will be offered in nine color options, including 3 dual-tone. Maruti has introduced two new color options – Luster Blue and Novel Orange with the new Swift. The body structure uses 45 percent high strength steel which includes 20 percent ultra-high-strength steel.
